Rainbow Web, The
A little spider thinks how wonderful it would be to have a web of many colors. One day a bird drops a bit of red berry onto the little spider’s web. He takes a sip from the berry and finds that when he is spinning his web, it is threads of red. He discovers that he can do this with berries of other colors until finally he has a beautiful web of a multitude of colors. The little spider is proud of his accomplishment and sits on his web, waiting to catch a fly, realizing he hasn’t caught any in several days. He goes to his father for advice and learns that spiders catch their food because their webs are invisible. He has an incentive and a decision to make. The next day, the little spider spins a transparent web and triumphantly spins a little rainbow web in the corner, and catches a fly!
Little Match Girl, The
A young girl is asked to go out on a cold New Year’s Eve and sell matches to make money for her family. She loses her slippers and finds a quiet cold corner. She lights her matches one at a time and sees happy and joyful visions. She would not dare go home because she had not sold any matches.
Donut Chef, The
A baker opens a small donut shop in a busy street. Not long after there is a long line of people waiting for his donuts. When another donut shop opens across the street the competition begins. Who has the BEST donuts in town? After lowering the prices and creating crazy complex donuts, two-year-old Debbie Sue has something to say. Sometimes simple is better!
Berenstain Bears and the Trouble with Commercials, The
Brother Bear and Sister Bear love their daily television break after school. In between their favorite shows, they always look forward to the commercials! Sometimes the TV commercials are better than the shows. Brother and Sister Bear always want what the commercials are selling such as cereal, candy, toys, or even a trip to Grizzyland. Mama Bear teaches her little ones a lesson on how to spend money wisely and make sure what is bought such as a box of cereal is gone before purchasing another one.
Sam and the Lucky Money
A little Chinese boy, Sam, must decide how to spend the four dollars he has received for Chinese New Year. His mother takes him to Chinatown and as Sam navigates through many stores he is overwhelmed with the choices and also realizes his four dollars is not enough to buy everything he wants. He practices decision-making when he compares multiple options and faces scarcity. Finally he decides to give his money to a poor man in the street who has no shoes.
