Cathedral
Story deals with the construction of a fictional Gothic Cathedral in France during the thirteenth century. The plot details each step of the construction from the idea to build the structure to it’s completion 86 years later. Each page contains intricate pencil sketches showing how the cathedral was built. The economic concepts of specialization and interdependence play vital roles in the construction, and are shown in the first several pages of the book. Each job type is illustrated and then explained in its relation to the finished product, as well as it’s relations to the other jobs. Other concepts are illustrated in minor ways, such as capital resources, human resources, and division of labor, among other possibilities.
