Dia’s Story Cloth, The Hmong People’s Journey of Freedom
The Hmong author came to the U.S. from a refugee camp when she was 15 without having been in school. Dia Cha chronicles the Hmong people’s painful history when families had to decide to support the American or the communist troops. The decisions would have long-lasting consequences for all. The story cloths are striking needlework and tell the history of the Hmong people. A supplemental section details Hmong artifacts and needlework.
