Drylongso
The story takes place on a farm west of the Mississippi in 1975 but reminds the reader of the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. The poor family consists of mother, father and their daughter Lindy who are experiencing a severe drought. A young man Drylongso is driven to the farm by a wall of dust. Drylongso helps the family find water by using a dowser, a divining rod. By building canals and planting the seeds Drylongso brings, the family is able to plant a future for itself. The importance of natural resources, human resources, and capital resources is central to the plot.
