Old Henry
Henry angered his neighbors one by one as he refused to shovel the snow, fix the gate, or repair the house he rented. Henry refused his neighbors’ help and “never will live like the rest of them, neat and the same.” Henry received fines and threats but nothing changed until finally, Henry moved and “no one lived there anymore.”The neighbors miss Henry and he misses them. Henry writes to the mayor asking if he could compromise and return. This open-ended narrative asks for a decision: should Henry be required to maintain his property or could a compromise be achieved?
