Great Kapok Tree: A Tale of the Rain Forest, The
A man, who was sent to the Amazon Rain Forest to cut down the great Kapok tree, is visited by the animals in his dream when he falls asleep by the tree. They try to convince the man why he should not destroy their habitats. Within this book there is a great struggle between a man and his choices. He must choose between logging for a living or listening to the animals of the rain forest and their needs for the great trees. This story provides great examples of making choices, conservation, and resource depletion. Each character provides a great perspective on the issues concerning the rain forest from a different point of view.
