Little House, The
Virginia Lee Burton; Houghton Mifflin 1978
The little house is happy in her rural setting until a horseless carriage comes with surveyors and later with steam shovels. Industrialization and urbanization overcome the little house; she’s sad and lonely until the great-great-granddaughter of the man who built the house moved her to a new rural setting where she could enjoy the sun, moon and stars and watch the seasons come and go.
